Your Smile, Ready for Summer

Spring has well and truly settled in Bronte. The ocean pools are filling up, the coastal walk is busy again, and summer is only a few weeks away. Before the year gets away from all of us, this month we’re helping you make the most of your health fund, get the kids back on track after the holidays, and sharing a little more about the smile we love creating here at Wellness Dental Bronte.

💰 Don’t Let Your Health Fund Benefits Wash Away

woman smilingIf you have extras cover, there’s a good chance your annual dental limits reset on 31 December, and anything you haven’t used simply disappears. You’ve paid your premiums all year, so it makes sense to put that cover to work.

This is especially important if your dentist has already recommended treatment. Fillings, crowns and other work you’ve been putting off rarely become easier or cheaper with time, and a small problem today can become a bigger one by the new year. Booking now means you can use this year’s limits and, for some treatments, start fresh with next year’s limits in January.

A friendly heads up: December is our busiest month. Every year we see patients trying to squeeze in appointments before Christmas, only to find the books already full. Our appointments for the rest of the year are limited, so the earlier you book, the more choice you’ll have.

Not sure what you have left? Give your health fund a quick call or check their app. Some funds reset on a different date, such as 30 June or your membership anniversary, so it’s worth confirming. Our friendly front desk team can also help you understand what your cover may include when you book.

🎃 Missed the Holiday Check-Up? There’s Still Time

The school holidays have come and gone in a blur of beach days, sleepovers and late nights. If you didn’t manage to get the kids in for their check-up, don’t worry. Now is the perfect time to book them in, before the silly season of end-of-year concerts, Christmas parties and summer holidays takes over the calendar.

And with Halloween on 31 October, followed closely by Christmas, the next few months are full of treats. That doesn’t mean saying no to the fun. It’s about building habits that keep little teeth strong through it all.

It’s how often, not just how much. Every time we eat or drink something sugary, the bacteria in our mouths produce acid that attacks tooth enamel. A bag of lollies grazed on over an afternoon causes more harm than the same lollies enjoyed in one sitting. Snacking over long periods keeps teeth under attack, while giving the mouth a break between meals lets saliva wash away food and protect the teeth.

With Halloween on the horizon, we often tell our patients about the “Switch Witch”. The kids only eat a couple of lollies and leave the rest outside the front door at night. In the morning, the Switch Witch has taken the lollies and left a little gift – a keyring or something small.

A few simple tips for the months ahead:

  • Enjoy treats with or straight after a meal, rather than grazing throughout the day.
  • Make tap water the go-to drink, especially after something sweet.
  • Swap some of the lollies for fruit, like a mandarin, when you can.
  • Keep brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, and never skip bedtime brushing, even on late nights.
  • Start flossing as soon as your child’s teeth begin to touch. It cleans the spaces a toothbrush can’t reach.

A check-up before summer gives us the chance to catch any small problems early, and helps the kids feel confident and comfortable at the dentist.

✨ Creating The Bronte Smile

woman in dental chair smiling in mirrorYou know the feeling. Laughing freely in a group photo at the beach. Catching your reflection and liking what you see. Smiling at someone new without a second thought. That’s what we call The Bronte Smile: healthy, natural and confident, and unmistakably yours.

It’s never about one look for everyone. It’s about listening to what you’d love to change, then using the right combination of care to get you there. Here are some of the ways our team helps create it.

A Healthy Foundation

Every great smile starts with healthy teeth and gums. Your regular check-up and clean is where it all begins, and where we can talk about your smile goals.

A Brighter Shade

Professional teeth whitening is one of the simplest ways to lift your smile, and perfect timing with summer celebrations on the way.

Straighter, Without the Brackets

Invisalign® and the Inman Aligner use clear, removable aligners to gently move teeth into place, so you can keep living your life while your smile changes.

Reshaped and Refined

Porcelain veneers can change the shape, size and colour of teeth that are chipped, worn, uneven or stained. For bigger changes, a smile makeover brings several treatments together in one considered plan.

Restored and Complete

Sometimes a confident smile starts with replacing what’s missing. Dental implants, crowns, bridges and All-On-4 dentures can bring back both the look and the function of a full smile.

Between them, our dentists have postgraduate training in aesthetics, prosthodontics and dental implants, along with continuing education in clear aligners and veneers, so your plan is built around what suits your teeth, your face and your goals. As with any dental treatment, there can be risks, and we’ll always talk you through your options so you can decide with confidence.

Been thinking about it for a while? If your dentist has mentioned follow-up treatment, or there’s something about your smile you’ve been meaning to ask about, this is your sign. Book in before the end of the year and you may also be able to put your health fund extras toward it.
